Edinburgh Endodontist: saving one tooth at a time!
At Edinburgh Endodontist, we are the only specialist endodontic referral practice that is dedicated to saving teeth using a root canal Edinburgh. We are devoted to excellent patient care and finding ways to treat and save even the most ‘difficult teeth’ to allow you to keep your original dentition. Having your natural teeth is always preferable at the end of the day! By performing root canal procedures, our aim is to allow our patients to be pain free and happy again through the use of modern dentistry techniques.
What is a root canal?
This may be a term you have heard of, but unless you’ve needed this treatment before, it is probably not something you fully understand. In order to grasp what a root canal Edinburgh involves at Edinburgh Endodontist, you need to understand the anatomy of your teeth because it is treating the inside of them. On the outside of your tooth, you have enamel – that’s what you’re brushing in the morning and at night! Underneath this is a hard substance called dentine. Underneath the dentine is a soft pulp that has the blood vessels, nerves and connective tissues that allow your teeth to grow and develop from childhood when you get your adult teeth. Once your teeth are all grown up, you don’t need the pulp, however, if the pulp becomes infected or inflamed as a result of tooth decay or a crack in your tooth, for example, this can lead to problems such as pain, discolouration, sensitivity, or worse, an abscess and possible tooth loss, if you don’t get it treated.
This is where we come in at Edinburgh Endodontist! We can provide a root canal Edinburgh treatment to tackle any infection with the aim of saving your natural teeth and prevent you from having to have an artificial replacement.
Nervous patients
We completely understand that there will be some patients who feel terrified at the thought of visiting the dentist for regular check-ups, let alone visiting a specialist endodontic referral practice for a root canal! We can offer IV sedation to help you relax and feel at ease about having the treatment that you need. We have an expert team at hand, including anaesthetists and sedationists. We will ensure that you feel safe and secure throughout your treatment, so you don’t have to worry about a thing. We also understand that you will be feeling nervous the minute you step through the door and we will take all the time you need, every step of the way. We also have the option to provide you with anxiolytic medication, which are pills designed to allay any panic or anxiety that you may be feeling. We can meet with you for a consultation to discuss which option may work best for you, before you come in for treatment as well, so you will know what to expect on the day of the procedure.
